Scarlet-breasted Dacnis, Dacnis berlepschi

Pedro Vicente Maldonado Silanché is located approximately halfway between Puerto Quito and San Miguel de los Bancos. From Mindo it takes less than an hour by car to reach the secondary lowland rainforests of Silanché at 450 - 500 meters which offer excellent birding. It is an ideal combination with the higher elevation birding at Bellavista and Mindo.
Target birds: Plumbeous Hawk, Dusky Pigeon, Saffron-headed Parrot, Gray-capped Cuckoo, Crested Owl, Blue-chested Hummigbird, Purple-chested Hummingbird, Northern Violaceous Trogon, Great Jacamar, Lita Woodpecker, Brown-capped Tyrannulet, Black-capped Pygmy-Tyrant, Zimmer's Flatbill, White-throated Spadedbill, Red-capped Manakin, Thrush-like Mourner, Stripe-throated Wren, Double-banded Graytail, Slate-throated Gnatcatcher, Fulvous-vented Euphonia, Scarlet-thighed Dacnis, Scarlet-and-white Tanager and Blue-whiskered Tanager.
